“His surgical skills are extraordinary. He is a very gifted surgeon. I have since recommended Dr. Wittig to many of my family, colleagues and friends. All report stellar interactions and results. Dr. Wittig has superior intelligence and a high degree of confidence in using his God given talents. Without hesitation, I received the best care under his medical supervision. “
“The rosary is from Lourdes, France as well as the water. The water comes from the Grotto at Lourdes, where my husband goes on pilgrimage yearly to serve those with special needs and the sick.
Many miracles have taken place at Lourdes. As you care for those who are suffering, use this water, and use it when you don’t feel well. Heaven will take care of you. Both the rosary and holy water have been blessed by a very high priest.”
“Receiving a diagnosis of a bone tumor is life changing, especially when you are in your twenties and otherwise healthy. After four surgeries, I have an internal metal prosthesis in my left arm, saving my arm from amputation. Dr. Wittig and his team have helped me in so many ways, and I am so thankful. He’s the best.”
“I wanted to let you know that our daughter is starting her radiation. We appreciate all the time and attention you’ve given her. You’ve made our lives a much better experience. It’s real nice knowing that we have a doctor like you in our corner.”
“Thank you for having such a wealth of information on your website. My brother, age 39, was diagnosed with sarcoma in his knee after being treated for glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor eight years ago. The information on your site helped us explain things to his ten-year-old daughter.”
“Thank you for all you do to help so many people. Thank you for helping my daughter. I know you were anointed by God and that you are a very special person in this world. Your reward will be great in Heaven one day!
Glod Bless You, Dr. Wittig.”

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate all you have done, and I’m sure will continue to do.”
“Thank you very much for the magnificent result. Yesterday, for the first time, Mary saw all three children together and she was smiling. Nothing could top that! Please know that you have my utmost gratitude for all you have done.”
“Thank you for everything you and your team have done for me. I cannot tell you how fortunate I feel that I am in your care. It gives me peace of mind that I have you as my doctor. Your knowledge and expertise are greatly appreciated.”
“I’m walking with my new leg, and pain free. And after removing a second very large NF tumor from my left hip, I am a ‘New Woman’ as he said. He is kind and caring and treats his patients with respect. I recommend him to everyone.”
“I just wanted to let you know that our daughter went swimming for the first time yesterday. She is now looking forward to riding her bike! Thank you for the wonderful work that you do and for giving my daughter a second chance at life and allowing her to continue with her future hopes and dreams.”
“Through both surgeries, Dr. Wittig has been especially friendly and forthcoming with my wife. After each hours-long surgery he immediately came out of the OR to reassure her that the operation had gone well, and that he had been able to save my leg. The day after my second surgery, Dr. Wittig made a special trip into the hospital from his home some 25 miles away to visit me and see how I was doing. During my recovery, he has been in touch with both my wife and me via email and Facebook to check on my recovery, and to send messages of encouragement. Now, thanks both to Dr. Wittig and my talented physical therapist, I walk without a cane and am back on my bicycle. Dr. Wittig is a truly remarkable physician and human being.”
“I have followed Dr. Wittig from Mount Sinai Hospital, to Hackensack Hospital, and recently to the Morristown Medical Center (Carol G. Simon Cancer Center). The treatment that I have always received from him throughout the years is exemplary. I recently had a soft tissue tumor on the top of my foot removed. Dr. Wittig assured me of a good outcome. Surgery was a success! The tumor was benign, and my foot is on the mend. Kudos to Dr. Wittig and his amazing staff! They are the best.”
“Dr. Wittig is a skilled, compassionate physician/surgeon with a bedside manner that is incredible. He involves the patient in their care choices and takes time to answer questions. Dr. Wittig has a staff that is friendly, dedicated and professional. They are always ready to help the patient. Dr. Wittig is brilliant, and his treatment of his patients is his priority. ALL doctors should follow his lead when it comes to patient care. I highly recommend Dr. Wittig.”
“Our son meant everything to us. He impacted so many people in his life. Being our only child, it was very traumatic losing him. Thank you for the time you took out of your busy schedule when we visited your office. He always felt comfortable in your capable hands. God bless you and best wishes always.”
“Dr. Wittig is a talented and compassionate physician, surgeon, oncologist and healer. He was the only surgeon in the NYC Metro area to agree to remove a very large, very destructive tumor on my husband’s knee. We went to every world class hospital in the region including the Hospital for Special Surgery and every doctor we met with said amputation was the only answer. After two complex surgeries, my husband’s knee was back to normal, with no pain – and just two very light front and back scars.”
“Among his many other attributes, Dr. Wittig is professional, kind, accessible, joyful, innovative, and compassionate. His team followed his lead – the culture he created was one unlike I’ve ever seen in medicine.”
“Dr. Wittig treated my teenage son, and I can’t say enough good things about the high level of care my son received. Dr. Wittig’s stellar reputation is well deserved. He’s not only a gifted surgeon but a compassionate and personable doctor who patiently explained everything every step of the way. I have every confidence in him and I’m so grateful to have him as my son’s doctor.”
“I was fortunate to have found Dr. Wittig. I developed a sarcoma on my left thigh and Dr. Wittig operated on me Dec. 8, 2015. This doctor is a genius in his own right. His whole team are experts at what they do. I am alive today because of this fine doctor. If anyone of you that gets cancer, please see this doctor, you will not regret it. I can’t thank him enough.”
“We found Dr. Wittig after a long exhaustive and frustrating search that spanned several years. Within 3 weeks my wife was on the operating table under Dr. Wittig and team’s skillful hands, and 6 months post-op she has no pain after many. many years. Dr. Wittig and his team are a gift from the heavens. Unparalleled bed-side manner and as busy as he is, he gives you more time than you could ever ask for to listen and reassure you that he can get this fixed. Tremendous guy.”
“Thank you so much for the fabulous care you gave to my dad. You were so wonderful to our family. He looks fabulous and is up and about already. You by far have the best ‘bed side manner’ and it really meant a lot to our family members. We appreciate all you did!”
“Dr. Wittig guided us through a very stressful time in the past year. I was so thankful to have landed in his care. His level of knowledge and skill are very impressive, and we have been comforted by his attention and expertise. It is rare to find a doctor who is not only the best in his field, but also who takes the time out to address questions and concerns without rush or pressure. His office staff is fantastic and reflective of the excellent practice overall.”
“Enclosed is a gift in honor of Dr James Wittig. Hackensack Medical Center is so fortunate to have Dr. Wittig on staff. He is an incredible surgeon whose skills have made a vast difference in my life. He gave up personal time on a weekend to perform emergency surgery on my femur. In addition to his technical ability, he has a kind heart. It is a pleasure to be his patient.”
“Once again, we would like to thank you for your skill and expertise with our son’s leg. You have provided him with extraordinary care, and we appreciate your compassion and understanding through his surgeries. We are grateful for the courtesy and attentiveness that your staff extended to our family. Thankfully, our son is at home now and doing great.”
“I just wanted to express my most sincere gratitude for the opportunities you have given me over the past three years. My experiences with you, from the OR to office hours, during rounds, and at conference and presentation have easily been the most significant and meaningful in my medical career thus far. Your clear passion, dedication and abilities in medicine have and will continue to be most inspirational to me as I strive toward becoming the best physician and surgeon I can be.”
“I have enjoyed spending time learning from you at the hospital and, moreover, as friends. I could not have asked for a better mentor, and I am honored to be a part of Team Wittig, and to have my name next to yours on our videos and publications.”
“I will always appreciate the support you have given me in the medical school application process, your prudent advice, and the wisdom that you have imparted upon me. I know your numerous recommendations and phone calls were instrumental in getting me interviews at both NYU and Albany Med, and consequently my admission to Albany Medical College.”
“I cannot thank you enough for taking me under your wing this summer. Sam and I loved getting to know you and your family, and I could not ask for a better mentor and friend. I know this experience will shape the rest of my career and I cannot wait to return the favor one day.”
“I cannot thank you enough for the incredible experience you have given me this summer. You have been more generous than I could have imagined, and I am so lucky to have gained such an outstanding mentor. Thank you sincerely for being an amazing friend.”
“I want to thank you for a fabulous experience this summer. I’ve seen and learned so much and felt like I became part of your medical team. You are an amazing doctor an a wonderful role model. Thanks for everything!”
“Your thoughtfulness meant so much! You let me have a real-life experience and I cannot thank you enough for that. Even though some daily interactions and business schemes can be taxing, you exemplify someone who at their core loves the professiona he chose. You made it clear to me just how badly I want to puruse becoming a physician and will serve and an inspiration to me from this day forward. Your remarkable talent in surgery, in the office, and at conferences is a direct result of the dedicated work you put in as a student and your intelligence today serves to remind me of this.”
“I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the invaluable experience you have given me. When we first spoke in February and you told me I would be able to go into the operating with you and take pictures of surgery, I never could have dreamd of the extent to which you would keep this promise! In more than just the humber of cases I saw or in my promxiimity to the action, but in the way you taught me on-site. And when we spoke of me helping you carry out basic day-to-day officer operations, I never could have dreamed of the extent to whish you’d allow me an inside look at how the office functions. Your trusting me to handle issues of utmost importance I am also grateful for.”
“Thank you so much for letting me work with you this summer. It was an amazing eight weeks. Scrubbing in on every surgery, including some of the coolest cases ever, was awesome. I will never forget your allowing me to close and more. The hands on experience you have given me will be invaluable down the road. I appreciate it tremedously. Most importantly, I admired how patient and understand you were with all your patients, even the extremely challenging and time consuing ones. I am luck to have worked with both a true teacher and an expert surgeon.”
“I could not have asked for a more thoughtful teacher. Next time I am in NYC, my sister and I will have to have you over for a lamb chop dinner! Good luck with the move to Mount Sinai, and thank you again.”
“I cannot thank you enough for this incredible summer. This was by far the coolest and most rewarding experience I have ever had. You are an incredible surgeon, a talented physician, and an amazingly generous friend. Thank you for giving me the chance to improve my skills in your office! I will carry your lessons with me throughout my career. I look forward to sharing all future success with you! Although I may not be able to provide much, please feel free to contact me if you ever need anything. You are an incredible inspiration!”
“Rest assured, most medical students are not fortunate enough to have had an experience like this so early on in their career, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have collaborated with you this summer. Yod finitely inspired me to be an orthopedic surgeon one day. I aspire to be as dedicated to my profession as you are when that time arrives.”
When our son was first diagnosed, we met two other families from our area that had been referred to WHC and Dr. Malawer. Of course, Dr. Malawer is a leader in his field of endeavor and as such is recognized as one of the best in the business. What struck us was how quickly each family offered that we also made certain to get to know Dr. Wittig. These families had undergone trying experiences and spoke highly of Dr. Wittig, and fortunately for us, Jim and Bryan immediately established a positive relationship.”
Jim conveys a sense of confidence and professionalism that instantly put us all at ease and he willingly made himself available around the clock to answer any questions or concerns we may have had. We are parents of a 12-year-old afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis. Dealing with CF, coupled with Bryan’s challenges, has given us more experience with doctors than we ever imagined we would have. Thankfully, most have been fantastic. However, Jim Wittig stands tall among an otherwise impressive group. We know that you would not regret making him a permanent part of the WHC family of physicians.
“At Washington Hospital Center, efforts to promote excellence in patient care remain first and foremost among our goals. As valued employees and physicians, you exemplify the human side of patients first in everything you do and set the standard as we strive to make the Hospital Center one of the most user-friend, compassionate, relationship building medical centers in the US. The BRAVO program is in its sixth year of recognizing employees for delivery quality care. You should be proud to be recognized by the community we serve for the care you give every day.”
“We are proud and pleased to have people like you who put the patient first on our staff. You embody quality, not only to patients, but also to all your colleagues throughout the Hospital Center.”
“It has come to our attention that Dr. James Wittig is pursuing post-fellowship employment opportunities with Washington Hospital Center. We are pleased to offer our support for Jim and hope that he is given the opportunity to remain in Washington. Our teenage son was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma in April and has recently undergone limb-salvage surgery at WHC. While these past several months have been especially difficult, we feel blessed that Bryan was fortunate enough to have been under the care of Dr. Malawer and Dr. Wittig. We hope that he will be able to continue to be under the care of both fine physicians.”
“Thanks so much for your kindness and generosity. It’s been a pleasure for me to work with you and the team which follows the examples you set when it comes to being professional and kind. We are all so glad to have you in our group.”
“Thanks for giving me the opportunity to be part of a wonderful team! It is truly a pleasure working with you.”
“I cannot put into words how thankful I am for your help. You are a wonderful physician and human being.”
“Thanks so much for remembering my birthday. Wildflowers are my favorite! I hope you realize how important your friendship is to me. I truly enjoy working with you. You are a beautiful person. Your mom must be proud!”
“Thank you for your letter of congratulations and the videos. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the Orthopedic Departmental meeting this month but will be attending next month and very much look forward to learning more about the exciting work you and the Department are doing for Hackensack University Medical Center.”
“Thank you for sending me a note announcing your new appointment. My congratulations to you and the best of everything. It seems only yesterday that you were a resident rotating through our service. Perhaps I will see you at AAOS.”
“It is and will continue to be a pleasure to work with you and your office staff as well. Stay well and wishes for a happy and healthy New Year.”
“My most sincere thanks for your incredible generosity. It is so good to be back at work and seeing everyone. It is always and honor and a pleasure to be able to work with you.”
“Just wishing you’re a very happy Birthday and many more. May God bless you with many more years of health and happiness. Thank you for being an amazing boss!”
